WIDE AREA NETWORK [SD WAN]
A Software-defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) is an abstracted network from its hardware that creates a virtualized network overlay. Operators can remotely manage and quickly scale this overlay, which can span over large geographical distance.
SD-WAN is an application of Software-defined Networking (SDN). It connects several branch locations to a centralized hub office or cover multiple locations in a large campus i.e. university campus. Since it is abstracted from hardware, it is far more flexible and available than a standard WAN.
