Service Registration

1. I would like to register a line with Altel. Can you tell me about your postpaid line?

We have three (3) Postpaid plans for you to choose, namely Altel Postpaid 38, Altel Postpaid 58 and Altel Postpaid 88.


2. Where can I register my line?

You can sign up via online via https://www.altel.my/postpaid


3. Do I need any documents for registration?

If you are Malaysian, you will need to provide:

  • ● MyKad
  • ● Staff ID
  • ● Proof of Payment ( Advance, Deposit, etc)


4. I am Non-Malaysian, what documents do I need for registration?

You only need to provide:

  • ● Passport/iKad/Ambassador ID, etc
  • ● Deposit RM300
  • ● Proof of Payment (Advance, Deposit, etc)


5. Can I choose my own mobile number?

Yes, you may choose from a series of normal running numbers.


6. What if I already have an existing line with another Telco, can I keep my mobile number?

Certainly. You can opt for Mobile Number Portability (MNP). It will take within 3 days to be activated, after verification and approval from your current telco.

2. How do I make online payments using the Altel website to pay my bills?

Just log on here https://www.altel.my/postpaid/billpayment

i. Select Support from the menu and click Bill Payment
ii. Enter your mobile number
iii. Key in the TAC number from your mobile
iv. Then you can click ‘Pay Now’ Button


3. How long does it take for my payments to go through?

You will receive an SMS notification informing your payment was successful only. No notification if payment was declined.

Printed Bill Fee

1. What is the paper bill fee?

The paper bill fees as per below:
● Summarized Bill: RM5
● Itemized Bill: RM10


2. Why do I have to pay more for my paper bill?

The printed paper bill fees are at par with the current paper bill monthly applied by all telecommunications companies in Malaysia. We strongly encourage customers to view their bill digitally for free.


3. I’m currently on paper billing, how can I subscribe to E-Billing?

You can subscribe to E-billing through Altel Customer Care.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

1. What is Mobile Number Portability?

Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is the ability for users to switch to a new mobile service provider, while retaining their existing mobile number. If you wish to switch to Altel from another Telco, kindly contact Altel Customer Care for assistance.


2. What should I do before switching to Altel?

Submit your request online www.altel.my/postpaid
To support the port-in process, kindly ensure that the following applies.
a) No overdue/outstanding bill
b) No outstanding contract obligation
c) Supplementary number(s) need to be ported together with Principal number
d) Credit Limit has not been exceeded
e) Account is still active

*Note
The duration of port-in consumers (individual registration) will take 1-5 days and for Non-consumers (Enterprise), within 1-15 days.


3. How do I know my current port-in status?

a) You will receive SMS notification from you current network provider upon successful port in.

a) You will receive a welcome SMS from ALTEL when you insert an ALTEL SIM card.

4. Is there any port-in fee?

Switching to Altel is FREE.


5. Can I cancel my port-in request?

If your port-in request is still in process (status “Await”), it can be cancelled. Please contact Altel Customer Care.

6. Will I face any service interruptions during the porting request?

No. There will be no service interruption during the process.

Data Add-On

1. What Data Add-On are available to purchase?

You can purchase:
● Add-On 2GB at only RM20
● Add-On 5GB at only RM45
● Add-On 10GB at only RM80


2. How can I purchase a Data Add-On?

3. Who is eligible to purchase Data Add-On?

All postpaid plan customers with active mobile data are eligible to purchase Data Add-On.


4. Can I use my plan’s data quota while roaming?

No. Your plan’s data quota is applicable for domestic use only (within Malaysia). Data usage while roaming is chargeable on top of your monthly commitment at roaming charges.


5. How can I check my data balance?

You can easily check your data balance through Altel Customer Care


6. What happens if I do not fully utilize my Data Add-On quota?

Any unused Data Add-On quota will be forfeited.

5. What happens if I do not fully utilize my data allocation?

Your data allocation will be forfeited.


6. Will I be getting any SMS notification on my data usage utilization?

Yes. The system will send an SMS upon reaching the threshold below:

7. What would happen if I fully utilized the data allocation within the billing cycle?

You can still enjoy the Internet access at 64kbps. To continue enjoying at a faster speed, you can purchase the Data Add-On.


8. Can I register for any supplementary lines with Altel Postpaid?

No. There are no supplementary lines for the plan.


9. Can I use my plan’s data quota while roaming?

No. Your plan’s data quota is applicable for domestic use only (within Malaysia). Data usage while roaming will be chargeable on top of your monthly commitment at roaming charges.


10. I am Foreigner, can I register and how much do I have to pay?

Yes, however you must pay a deposit of RM300 upon registration.


11. How much do I need to pay upon registration?

Registration and Activation

1. What is an International Roaming service?

International Roaming service allows you to use voice, SMS & data services on your mobile phones/PDA devices while abroad.


2. How to activate International Roaming service?

All postpaid subscribers have been pre-activated for International roaming service (for voice & SMS only). For data service, subscribers need to activate the data roaming services. . Once data roaming service is activated, subscriber can subscribe to our Roaming Pass or Roaming Data add ons below:

4. Can I subscribe to International Roaming while abroad?

Yes.


5. Do I have to pay a deposit to activate my International Roaming service?

Yes. Deposit of RM200 is required.


6. Can I get back my deposit after deactivating my International Roaming service?

The deposit will be transferred to the subscriber postpaid account and will be used to knock off the postpaid bill. Incase subscriber terminates the postpaid account, the deposit will be refunded into the subscriber bank account.


7. Whom do I call if I encounter problems regarding International Roaming Service?

You may contact Altel Customer Care.

General Roaming Info

1. Save the Altel Customer Care number in your phone book as your contact for future enquiries and assistance while travelling.

2. Learn how to avoid substantial roaming charges.
● Please check for available promotional roaming rates before travelling for better roaming charges
● Remember that streaming audio or video can use a lot of data very quickly.

3. Connect to the 1-Day Internet pass for only RM38/day over 100 countries! Why pay for additional internet charges from your hotel when you can stay connected to the latest news, updates and emails on your mobile while you are travelling from as low as RM38/day in more than over 100 countries!

4. Closely monitor the length of your call to avoid any surprises on your bill.

5. Check your call barring settings. Ensure that "Call Barring Outgoing" and "Call Barring Incoming" for international calls are not active so that you roam with China Mobile in China

6. Please ensure your device supports TD-SCDMA frequency mode while roaming with China Mobile’s 3G network. View the list of devices that support TD-SCDMA frequency here.

7. Roam in Japan, South Korea and Singapore. A 3G-enabled mobile device is required for roaming in Japan, South Korea and Singapore

**There are no roaming services in Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani due to Thailand's regulations.
**There are no roaming services in Jammu and Kashmir due to India's regulations.

Tip 1: Check the Access Point Name in your device:

For iPhone users:
1. Go to “Setting”
2. Go to “Mobile Data”
3. Go to “Mobile Data Options”
4. Go to “Mobile Data Network”
5. Go to APN
6. Select Altel

For Android users:
1. Go To “Setting”
2. Search for “Mobile Network”
3. Go to Access Point Name
4. Select Altel


Tip 2: Identify and connect to the Preferred Operator via the following methods:

Via the manual network selection on your mobile.
1. Select ‘Menu’
2. Select ‘Settings’
3. Select ‘Network’ or ‘Connectivity’
4. Select ‘Operator selection’ or ‘Search Mode’
5. Select ‘Manual’. The phone will now search for mobile networks that are available.
6. Select one of the listed network (Choose the preferred partner network)
Note: Steps may differ slightly depending on the type of phone used.


Tip 3: Check and increase your credit limit:

Tip 4: Disable call forwarding while roaming.

Please ensure to disable your call forwarding while roaming in order to avoid mobile terminating charges even if the call is not answered by you.

1. How to make an international voice or video call?

Dial the number of the person you wish to call with the following format.

Roaming Data Add-On

1. What is Roaming Data Add-On?

Roaming Data Add-On is made available once you subscribe to any roaming pass. It is to increase Internet quota. You are not allowed to subscribe to Roaming Data Add On without subscription of any roaming pass (excluding 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass).

1 Day CAlls & SMS Pass

1. What is 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

1-Day Calls & SMS Pass is an exclusive Voice and SMS roaming plan that allows subscribers to have Unlimited Calls and SMS while traveling overseas in selected countries and operators for only RM18 per day.


2. What are the main offerings for 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

● Unlimited Calls (Calls to Malaysia, Calls within roaming country and incoming calls)
● Unlimited SMS (SMS send to Malaysia and to within roaming country) **Will be capped until 500 minutes and 500 SMS per day


3. How much will I be charged for the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

You will be charged RM18 for 24 hours. Notes: This service will not be auto-renewed once you have reached the expiry date. Subscribers will need to re-purchase the roaming pass. You will be charged with RM18 only even if you travel to multiple ASEAN countries within 24 hours before your pass expires.


4. How to subscribe to the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

You need to subscribe to 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass. Please make sure that you logged on the preferred partner network.

SMS notification will be sent upon successful provisioning of the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass.


7. What is the validity of the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

This Pass is valid for 24 hours upon subscription. For example, you have subscribed 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass at 10.40pm (14/5/2020). Your pass will expire at 10.40pm (15/5/2020) (Malaysia Time)


8. Which are the countries & network operators covered by the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

9. How do I ensure that I am always logged on to the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass operators’ network?

Once you are in any of the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass countries, make sure you are logged on to the preferred partner network. However to ensure that you are always logged on to the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass network, you can select it via the manual network selection on your mobile.
1. Select ‘Menu’
2. Select ‘Settings’
3. Select ‘Network’ or ‘Connectivity’
4. Select ‘Operator selection’ or ‘Search Mode’
5. Select ‘Manual’. The phone will now search for mobile networks that are available.
6. Select one of the listed network (Choose the preferred partner network)
Note: Steps may differ slightly depending on the type of phone used.


10. What happens if I change to a non-preferred operator?

You will not be able to use 1-Day Calls & SMS pass on the non-preferred network. For your convenience, please ensure that you manually select a preferred operator.


11. Can I unsubscribe to the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

No. The 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass will expire automatically once it hit its expiry time. The 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass will not be auto renewed and should be manually renew (if needed). Call & SMS will charge at PPU rate upon expiry off the 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass. There will be no PPU for data.


12. Can I subscribe to multiple 1-Day Calls & SMS Pass?

Yes.


13. Can I subscribe to other roaming passes concurrently?

Yes. Quota will remain in a different bucket.





1 Day Internet Pass

1. What is the 1-Day Internet Pass?

The 1-Day Internet Pass allows subscribers to enjoy internet access while travelling overseas in selected countries and operators for only RM38 a day.


2. What do I get to enjoy with my 1-Day Internet Pass subscription?

You will enjoy high-speed mobile Internet for 24 hours from the activation time. Please note that the new Fair Usage Policy “FUP” will also apply during roaming just like for domestic use. Please note that upon reaching the allocated quota, subscribers will be throttled to basic internet (64kbps) within the validity period.


3. How much will I be charged for the 1-Day Internet Pass?

You will be charged RM38 for 24 hours.
Notes: This service will not be auto-renewed once you have reached the expiry date. Subscribers will need to re-purchase the roaming pass. You will only be charged RM38 per day even if you travel to multiple countries within 24 hours before your 1-Day Internet Pass expires.

13. Can I unsubscribe to the 10-Day 3-in-1 Pass?

No. The 10-Day 3-in-1 Pass will expire automatically once it hit its expiry time. The 10-Day 3-in-1 Pass will not be auto renewed and should be manually renew (if needed). Call & SMS will charge at PPU rate upon expiry of the 7-Day 3-in-1 Pass. There will be no PPU for data.


14. Can I subscribe to multiple 10-Day 3-in-1 Pass?

No.


15. Can I subscribe to other roaming passes concurrently?

Yes. Quota will remain in a different bucket.


16. How do I check my weekly Internet quota balance?

You can check your Internet balance through Altel Customer Care.
